We enjoyed a very nice week in The heart of Central Australia in August straddling a conference at Sails in the Desert for 3 days but still got to see plenty of stunning country and cultural sights.
we were there as part of The real estate results network Annual conference and what a perfect place to get some serious learning done.
On our first night we took in the beautiful Uluru sunset from The resort and the next day we were off after breakfast to do a part base walk of The Rock before it got too hot.
it has been 18 years since we last visited The Red Centre and nothing can prepare you for the Majestic sight of ULURU as you get closer and closer to it. but apart for its “AWE “its the detail, history and culture around its base that was the most fascinating.
we took our time taking in The Dreaming Stories and as we ventured into all the nooks and crannies you quickly realise how big this Rock is.
we walked over to the Cultural Centre in the blazing midday sun which was a mistake but enjoyed the views and textures along the way.
The next day , Sunday, was the day before the conference officially began and we had arranged a tour of Kata Tjuta” the olgas” with other Network Members which was good fun and an awesome experience. The difference in the two Icons of Central Australia is fascinating and the sense of Spirit and Place captured everyone there, even The Kiwis !!!
The bird life was very active and the Finches were in abundance.
That night was the official welcome Party out in the desert at sunset and a welcome by some traditional dancers was a great sight. we even won an award for most productive sales team in the Network.
The next morning we all got up in the dark to capture the spectacle of an ULURU Sunrise in the chilly dawn but it was well worth the effort.
We were taken on tour after the sunrise to a very special water hole where there were some amazing Dreamtime stories told that related to the fascinating rock formations.
The final night of the conference saw all the delegates head out to the Sounds Of Silence Desert Dining experience under the stars which was an amazing experience with a spectacular sunsets looking back to Kata Tjuta
When the Conference was over we still had a few days to get out and about so it was back to The Olgas for another hike to just absorb its wonder.
We got back out to ULURU for a magical close up Sunset and moonrise at the same time.
the Redness of ULURU at sunset was a truly amazing sight.
On our last day we took another hike around the base to se how much more we could discover and around every bend more majesty was revealed.
Our Flight out and in revealed the wonderful spectacle of how amazing our Red Centre is.
