We began our first Fijian adventure arriving at Nadi Airport to be greeted by machine gun totting soldiers and blinding heat. We spent just one night at a local hotel and then it was off the next morning to Maolo island. The boat trip was a fun experience and the boat boys kept wanting to ply me with beer….more beer, more beer they kept asking. The island was just perfect and the accommodation in a Bure right on the beach was perfect.

We enjoyed everything the island had to offer but it was the stunning water that really captivated us along with the opportunity to kayak and float around the bays and snorkel the coral reefs nearby. Just off the main beach was a small island that we would Kayak out to and just beachcomb, swim and float around for hours

One of the best days was our boat ride to Honeymoon island and apart from being a small deserted island the reef was just off the beach and the snorkelling around the stunning coral and fish life was one of the most amazing experiences imaginable.

We ventured off into the jungle a few times, up the hills and down the dales and ended up on a deserted beach called Likuliku which was just so beautiful but we understand there are plans to turn it into a resort which is a shame but understandable.

The main beach on Malolo is right outside our Burre and it is where the welcome bar is located so a great place to take it all in

Wadigi island sits indie the lagoon and has an exclusive resort/house on it

Honeymoon island and castaway island are nearby in this untouched tropical paradise
